This package contains the PRESEMT Machine Translation System which is freely available for academic research and education. The technical details of PRESEMT are documented in the various publications in the PRESEMT website. Besides the complete PRESEMT system, this archive contains the required resource for translating from German to English and from Greek to English. Please note that the provided resources are limited, serving merely as a basis. For example both bilingual lexica only contain around 10,000 entries each. Users are encouraged to produce their own resources, or even create new language pairs. Usage (current PRESEMT version 3797) =============================================== > java -jar PRESEMT_v3797.jar -srcLang -tgtLang -input where: SL: The source language short form (de for German or el for Greek) TL: The target language short form (en for English) INPUT_FILE: simple text file with the source text (UTF-8 encoding prefered) installation of the system =============================================== 1. Create a directory, for example PRESEMT 2. Move the files PRESEMT.tar.gz and PRESEMT_v3797.jar in the previous directory 3. For the installation for Windows to work, Cygwin should be installed and the path to cygwin/bin (e.g. "C:\cygwin\bin") should be included in the PATH system variable. An installation of Cygwin usually includes Perl, otherwise Perl has to be installed. 4. For the installation for Linux to work, Perl should be installed. 5. Unzip the archive file PRESEMT.tar.gz that contains all required resources for the two language pairs. You should see two folders: data and tools. 6. Create a sample input file for either German or Greek and run the system. This package contains two configuration files for the two language pairs, data/config/config.xml and data/config/languages.xml
